The second signature build for Maybury artist Kit Trigg was crafted to complement, yet differentiate from, his first signature guitar—the striking teal blue Flying V—giving him a wider range of sonic possibilities.
Kit had always envisioned a Firebird-style guitar, but with a twist. He wanted to incorporate elements of a Strat, such as neck profile and scale length and body contouring, for a unique blend of comfort and style.
The result is a masterpiece: a Strat-inspired 25.5” scale reverse headstock neck made from figured Oak, with a smooth Indian Blackwood fretboard. This neck is comfortably paired to the body with a deluxe-style bolt-on plate and a contoured heel for enhanced playability.
The body is a traditional Firebird shape, featuring a natural figured Oak center, complemented by Teal-dyed Shu Sugi Ban Spruce wings. The Teal finish matches Kit’s first signature build, providing a cohesive look across his instruments.
For hardware, we chose all-nickel components, including locking Hipshot tuners, a Gotoh roller bridge, and a Gibson-style Vibrola Tremolo system.
The electronics are equipped with a set of Sunbear “Sunbirds” Firebird-style pickups, wired with vintage cloth-covered wire, CTS potentiometers, an Orange Drop Capacitor, and a Switchcraft three-way switch, ensuring both reliability and tonal depth.
Visually stunning and tonally versatile, this guitar offers a more mellow sound compared to Kit’s Flying V, with vintage-style pickups that deliver clear, defined notes whether played clean or with distortion. It's a standout instrument that broadens Kit's sonic palette, combining classic elements with fresh, innovative design.
