“I’ve always loved the idea of the Pignose!” A small travel sized guitar with a built in mini amp and Speaker, what’s not to love???

Well, the Pignose comes in various guises, and when a reasonably priced PGG-200, Mahogany one became available, it was snapped up.

The guitar in standard form is not bad at all, however it didn’t really tick all the boxes in the finish department, and as custom guitar builder there was obviously no way that it could stay in its standard format.

The first thing to receive attention was the neck, the plastic dot inlays were removed and a set of brass and black resin ones were added. The standard plastic nut was also removed and a composite black graphite resin one was fashioned to replaced it.

At the other end of the strings the original chrome bridge saddles were removed and replaced with solid brass milled ones giving the guitar improved sustain.

All of the cavities were then lined with copper foil, and to keep with brass and chrome theme, a custom made brass pick plate, truss rod and control cavity covers were added. The rear speaker cover was also replaced with a 2mm brass plate that was marked up and drilled out on the pillar drill.

The last addition was the replacement of the original Lipstick pickup with a hand wound, chrome covered single coil from Under Fluked Guitars.

The replacement of the pickup has completely changed the dynamic of the guitar when played through its in built amplifier, but even more dramatically when pugged in to an external amp!
